| ▪ Caption/Abstract: | | Two young lasses local to Inverness captivated tonight's audience at The Ironworks, Inverness (Wednesday 11th October). Providing support for the legendary Steve Forbert, singer Faye Sheret and guitarist Laura Dixon, collectively known as "Afterglow", were on fine form performing their own songs. Faye sang with a surprising number of degrees of light and shade, belting out powerful vocals where necessary yet having the delicacy to hold back when required.
Faye was accompanied perfectly by Laura's driving rhythmical but melodic guitar. It's the first time I've seen them and it wouldn't surprise me if I saw a lot more of them in the future. A delightful start to the evening.
Before starting his own set, Steve Forbert himself praised their performance, suggesting there was plenty more to come from the girls.
Afterglow was formed in August 2005 by Vocalist\Keyboard player Faye Sheret and Guitarist\Backing Vocalist Laura Dixon (Chicken).
The two met at the North Highland College and quickly put together a set of original acoustic material that has gone down a storm at not only the College concerts but many imprompt house partys around the Highlands.
With the completion of their college courses Afterglow have began booking shows in venues across Scotland and currently recording their first CD set to showcase the Afterglow sound of catchy melodys and interesting rhythms. |
